At Discovery Kids Child Care, we are committed to providing a nurturing, stimulating, and safe environment where children can learn, grow, and thrive. We believe in play-based learning and fostering a love of discovery in every child. Our centre offers programs for children between the ages of 0-5, with an Infant\/Toddler Classroom for children up to 36 months old and a 30 Months to School Age Classroom.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Position Summary:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Casual On-Call ECEA or ECE will provide support to our permanent staff, ensuring the continuous delivery of high-quality child care services. This role is ideal for individuals who enjoy a flexible schedule and are able to step in when needed to cover shifts due to staff absences, vacations, or increased programming needs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Key Responsibilities:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Assist with the implementation of age-appropriate educational and recreational activities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Supervise children indoors and outdoors, ensuring their safety and well-being at all times.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Support children’s social, emotional, cognitive, and physical development.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Maintain a clean, organized, and safe learning environment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Communicate effectively and positively with children, parents, and colleagues.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Adhere to all licensing regulations and DKCC policies and procedures.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Collaborate with the team to create a positive and inclusive atmosphere.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Assist with daily routines such as meal times, nap times, and toileting.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Qualifications:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Early Childhood Educator Assistant (ECEA) Certification or Early Childhood Educator (ECE) Certification valid in British Columbia.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Current First Aid and CPR Certification (or willingness to obtain promptly).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Clear Criminal Record Check (or willingness to obtain upon offer of employment).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Previous experience working in a licensed child care facility is an asset.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Patience, creativity, flexibility, and a genuine love for working with children.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Reliable and punctual with the ability to respond to on-call requests in a timely manner.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
